One Fine Day & Anno’s One Fine Day

ONE FINE DAY e.V. is a Berlin-based sustainable charity founded by Marie Steinmann and Tom Tykwer in 2008.

Over the years, our creative program has engaged over 4500 children and adolescents in disadvantaged areas to discover their creative potential and take control of their own lives through practicing various artistic disciplines.  We offer weekly creative classes in categories such as visual arts, dance, ballet, drama, music, acrobatics and creative writing / storytelling.

Many of our alumni have transitioned into careers within the creative industry or have founded organisations driving positive change in their communities. Others are currently at university pursuing diverse careers.

Thanks to the generous donations to One Fine Day and the support from the BMZ (Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung) through the GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) we constructed a unique Arts Centre in Kibera, the largest informal settlement in East Africa which was inaugurated in January 2024.

Since 2018, One Fine Day has worked  hand in hand with its partner organisation Anno’s One Fine Day, located directly in Kibera, Kenya.  Together, they reach out to 1,000 children and young adults yearly with the mission to nurture their creative potential. This way they tackle the important issues of the informal settlements of Nairobi by offering a sustainable strategy. They focus on the youth providing tools and guidance through the arts for the young generation to feel safe, confident, and competent to develop into healthy, strong contributors to their community.
